Have you been spending a lot of time sitting on your behind, (blogging, perhaps?) and not getting much physical exercise – except maybe to walk to the mailbox, or fridge? Ugh. That was me for about the past year. Sad, isn’t it? I certainly think so.
I used to be so active! Hiking, camping, going dancing once or twice a week. Since my husband quit drinking (definitely a great thing) we don’t go dancing any more. The drought here (year before last) really cut our hiking and camping out. It’s hard to roast marshmallows at a campground when there is a burn ban.
I was so thrilled when I found Mamavation. Leah is such an inspiration! She really keeps ya movin’! Especially if you follow her on Twitter! LOL! She has given me needed mental push to get up and move. All the Mamavation ‘cheerleaders’ are a major motivational factor too. Everyone is so upbeat, and even if I have a bad week, they are there to hold me up and let me know that quitting isn’t an option if I want to be healthy and active again.
I messed my knee up last week. Twisted it pretty good too… bad enough I didn’t make an audition for a job that I really want. They gave me another chance at an audition, in February. That makes that part ok again. It can’t make it ok that I didn’t get to finish up what was starting out to be an epic treadmill week.
Hubby fixed my treadmill, so it was easier to walk on. I started the week out walking for longer periods of time than before (when the silly treadmill was trying to kill me – set on ‘uphill in sand’ mode). I was feeling better about walking, and decided thrift store shopping was still walking. I walked a lot that day, treadmill in the morning – thrift stores in the afternoon. I felt good. Good enough that the next day I thought it would be fun to go run in the pasture with the cows….
Rain (our heifer) is extremely rambunctious. She loves to play, and I engaged her that day. She is big though, actually, huge is a better word. She gets a little rough, without meaning to… she just doesn’t realize how big – and strong – she really is. I always err on the side of caution with her when we are playing. That’s how I twisted my knee. Of course, being 51 probably didn’t help much. LOL.
Now, my knee is heeling up very well, but I’ve missed 3 days on the treadmill. I wont miss another. Today it’s on.
