Pine Bros. – Over 140 Yrs of Soothing Experience

Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops - Cherry

*I was sent product to facilitate this review.

Pine Bros. Softish Drops have been around for over 140 yrs! That’s a long, long time, I know! I’m 51, and I remember when I was little, sitting in church, trying to be very quiet while my father was leading prayer or preaching. If we had any kind of a cough, or a throat tickle, it would be so hard to be quiet. My mom would open her purse and take out a little cardboard box, take out one of the tiny pieces and give it to us. Pine Bros. Softish Throat Drops in honey, and sometimes cherry would help me, and my brother, be just a little quieter… sometimes even if we didn’t have a throat tickle!

Pine Bros. Bags and Pucks in Honey & Cherry flavors
These little drops of goodness were created in 1870 by J. Herman Pine. He was a German confectioner (candy maker) and at first made them for himself, and his family, to help with sore throats. Soon, he and his brother were selling them as Pine Brother’s Glycerin Tablets. He wrote, “I have discovered something, which will give quick throat relief to thousands afflicted as I was.” He added, “Perhaps I won’t make much money out of this. But I can make people happy, and that’s more important than money.”

Mr. Pine was very modest, as they’ve been soothing sore throats since 1870, and they are still the best choice out there. Recently acquired by Victoria Knight-McDowell, creator and former owner of Airborne, the lozenges are made from the original Pine Brother’s recipes, which she spent a lot of time and effort locating. They are all natural; made with glycerin, gum acacia (what makes them ‘softish’!), honey, corn syrup, water, sunflower oil, and carnauba wax. Right now they are available in honey and cherry flavors. The licorice flavor was available through the holidays, and you might still be able to find it in some of the stores. Soon (I can hardly wait!) they will also add the lemon citrus flavor!

You can find Pine Bros. Softish Throat Drops at lots of places, including CVS Pharmacy, Safeway, ShopRite, Drugstore.com, Harris Teeter, Walgreen’s Pharmacy and The Vermont Country Store. You can also find them online on the Pine Bros. website!

I received packages of Pine Bros. Softish Throat Drops to facilitate this review. I was not monetarily compensated. All opinions are my own.
