What’s On the Crochet Hook?

What’s On the Crochet Hook?

Works In Progress…

I’ve been doing a lot of crochet since my computer went down. Oh? You didn’t know? That’s because ya’ll are so important to me that I got Hubby to buy me a little netbook  early this year, so I have a backup, ‘just in case’. I hate typing on it because the keys are all wonky different from my laptop. I think I spend more time deleting the extra letters I type, than actually typing my posts for the day!

So, in the evenings, instead of entering batzillions of sweepstakes and giveaways, I crochet. I’ve gotten several little items done too! First, if you follow me on Twitter and Facebook, you’ve seen this little rhinoceros that I finished last week…

The rhino pattern came from the book Crochet a Zoo: Fun Toys for Baby and You by Megan Kreiner. Then I worked on this cute little guy…

Zookeeper from book Crochet a Zoo

He’s the Zookeeper pattern from that same book. If you follow me on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook, you’ll remember back in August, I made my dad a little guy from the same pattern. I love this pattern, except I really don’t like the legs. I would much rather my dolls have real separate legs. So I took my crochet hook in hand and decided to make a martian – just out of my head.

Crochet Martian Guy

This is what I ended up with. No, I did not write the pattern down. I was extremely pleased with him though! See? He has a little tushy! I honestly never thought I could do it, and I put him down and walked away from him several times because I was apprehensive. He turned out pretty good though, even if I do say so myself! I still need to give him eyes. My son thinks he should have eyes on little antennae… kind of like a snail. I want to give him eyes on his face, and should have attached them before I closed up the head. I can still crochet some eyes on though. Once I figure out exactly what I’m going to do, I’ll post the finished pictures of him.

I have three new crochet books coming through Amazon.com, so keep your eyes open for some new works out of that too. OH! I almost forgot! This is what is on my ‘long term’ hook…

Spider Lace Afghan

It’s the Spider Lace Afghan from the Big Book of Crochet (Leisure Arts #3850). This book is quickly becoming one of my favorites for long term projects. There are over 120 project patterns in it; afghans, shrugs, baby items, etc. There’s something for everyone – I promise!

So, I need new ideas all the time. I have so much trouble choosing what I should crochet next. I’m asking for ideas!

What would you like to see me crochet next?

These are all so cute! Right now I have kids hats on my hook 🙂 I know I am a bit behind! LOL

    • Kids hats are good! I found a great pattern for gloves so now I’m doing a couple of pairs of those for the daughters-in-law!

  2. I love how your martian variation (complete with adorable bum) came out! Well done 🙂

How cute. I wish I could make things like this. I would give to my grandbabies.
