Hosted by myself, Trista from Anderson’s Angels and Courtney from Joy of Momma Joyner, Good News Thursday is all about sharing the GOOD things that happen in our lives. We hear so much bad news on the television, radio and in the papers every day, don’t you think it’s time we heard some GOOD news? So do we! Come join us in our endeavor to share the good news in every day life. After you read my good news for today, link up at the bottom of the post, and share your good news too!
Ok, it may not be good news for anyone else, unless you are part of my family, or a close friend who comes to visit. I however think that my floors being finished, is WONDERFUL news! Now, I can get my kitchen (where all the excess furniture had been moved to) back into some resemblance of order.
I know it’s hard to actually see the new floor, since there is a beautiful Mohawk rug covering it, but I can see a huge difference. The carpet that was under that rug before was atrocious. It had several holes in it (one from a hot iron falling on it, and one from, well, we’ll just attribute it to an ex-husband!) and after fifteen years it had certainly seen better days. I will admit I was not fond of that carpet from the day I bought the house. The color was a deep burgundy maroon that we affectionately refered to as “whore-house maroon”. I don’t have to worry about it any more! To me, the light oak makes the room seem bigger, and fresher!
Yes, the binding on my floor is starting to unravel a little. I need to find a needle and repair it. This rug was a blessing when I won it though! It kept me from having to see the holes in the carpet…!
So, my life feels a little more blessed, and a lot less cluttered. The love seat in the top picture is an auction purchase ($30!!) and that shelf tower in the middle of the picture will go in the corner behind Hubby’s recliner. We are moving the antique buffet from the kitchen into the living room to use as a TV stand. Hubby inherited another antique buffet from his parents, and it will take the old buffet’s place in the kitchen under my pot rack.
