Cross Filled with Light in the Chapel

Chapel in the prayer garden at the Light of the World Women's Retreat

This beautiful, serene Chapel is in the Prayer Garden at the camp in Trinity where our women’s retreat was held this past weekend. The stained glass cross embedded in the stone wall has a light in the back keeping it lit.

Last weekend I attended a Women’s Retreat with the ladies from the church where I am a member (North Woodlands Church of Christ at Buckshot Lane). Our theme this year was Light of the World. It was a refreshing, Spirit-filled weekend that I will not soon forget. The connections you make with God, and with the ladies who attend, are amazing and life changing. If you get a chance to attend one, open your heart to it. You will be very pleasantly surprised.

Light of the waning day on Trinity Lake

John 1:1-9  In verse 4 it says “In him (God) was life; and the life was the light of men.” In this verse, the ‘life’ talked about is Jesus Christ. These verses go on to tell about how John came to bear witness of that Light. In verse 7 the letter L in the word light is capitalized. The most powerful verse is verse 9. This verse reads, ” That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”

What is so powerful about John 1:9? Recently scientists have found that when you peel away the layers of a cell of any living thing, you will find light (You can find this information HERE). Down deep in every cell of every living thing, is Jesus. Verse 9 tells us it is so. Verse 9 told us so before scientists revealed that it is so. All we have to do, is let it shine.

Will you let your light shine for Him?

Please feel free to link up for Wordless Wednesday!

  9. Peggy says:

I am not a blogger, but for me this picture is representative of how the love that was demonstrated at Calvary still lights the world today.
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” John 3:16-18 NIV
