Hunger Free Summer – Still Time To Help

Hunger Free Summer – Still Time To Help

#HungerFreeSummer is Ongoing

*I worked with The Motherhood on this post, sponsored by ConAgra Foods. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Summer is almost over. Only about a month left before school will be back in session. If you read my post at the first of the month, you’ll remember I told you about the #HungerFreeSummer campaign, and how it helps children who may only get one decent meal a day when school is out for the summer.

With two teen boys, I’ll be the first to tell you, it’s sometimes hard to make the budget stretch. I thank God every day that we can make ends meet, and keep these two human garbage disposals fed. This summer alone, 26 Food Banks in 18 states have used Hunger Free Summer grants, funded by the ConAgra Foods Foundation to expand their summer feeding programs. These grants range from $20,000 to $50,000 – all to bring meals to more children throughout the summer.

The summer will be over soon, and kids will be heading back to school. Free and Reduced Price lunches will be more readily available to the children. But, there is still a month of summer left. Could you spare just a minute to help these children have a Hunger Free Summer next month?

Remember the video* I shared? I’m sharing it here again. Please, watch the video, give it a thumbs up and share it in your social media accounts. You won’t believe what a difference it will make.

*For every view, like or share of this Kid President video recorded on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumbler and Google+ from May 22, 2014 through July 31, 2014, the ConAgra Foods Foundation will donate 11.1 cents, the cost for Feeding America to provide one meal through its network of local food banks. Minimum donation of 10,000 meals ($11,111). Maximum donation of two million meals ($222,000). Valid in U.S. only.

Would you want to see your child have only one meal a day?

  1. I am so saddened that kids go hungry. I know some schools in our area have a free summer lunch program, which is wonderful. Not all communities have that though, so it’s great to hear when big companies do their part to help fight this hunger crisis!
