Bird of Paradise
This is a Bird of Paradise flower that I saw when I was at the Blog Elevated Conference. It’s beautiful, isn’t it? It is one of my very favorite flowers.
The name ‘Bird of Paradise’ comes from the beautiful colors and the fact that the flower does indeed look kind of like a bird taking flight. The plant needs lots of sunlight, and when young a steady watering schedule. I’ve heard they don’t flower for two years, but then I read that in order to flower, they have to be root bound. I do know the weather here in South Texas is perfect for them. Our humidity and warm temps are wonderful for tropical flowers! Someday, I hope to have Bird of Paradise in my garden flower beds!
