Are You Ready for the Holidays?
I am ready for them, but I just wish it looked more like Autumn outside, instead of late Summer! The temperatures are finally dropping slightly. I wanted to hurry Fall along, so I thought if I started on the place settings for the kids’ Thanksgiving table, it might help. I thought of this simple and affordable way to make place settings, with some help from SweetWorks candies, and decided I would share it with you!
These cute little place settings are so easy, you might even have your children help you make them. Here are the supplies you will need –
- toilet paper rolls
- Fall color washi tape
- a printer, with paper for making leaf templates
- foam crafting sheets in Fall colors. I used red, yellow, green and orange
- black permanent marker
- Glue dots or double sided tape
- SweetWorks Sixlets individually wrapped candies in Fall colors
I picked up the foam sheets, and glue dots at one of the local dollar stores. Everything else I had around the house, and most of you will too. That makes this craft so affordable! So lets get this craft started…
First, make sure your toilet paper rolls are free of any extra paper. Cut each of them into 4 separate rings. Wrap those rings in washi tape to cover the cardboard. Use as many as you need to make the amount of napkin ring place settings you need.
Next, print off some leaf templates. Cut out the printed leaf shapes and use them as templates to draw leaves on the foam sheets. Then cut the foam leaves out.
I printed the grand children’s names on the leaves using a permanent marker, and used glue dots to glue them to the toilet paper rings. Without names, these still make a great fall napkin ring! Now, because I love to do really special things for my grand-kids, I used glue dots to attach an individual package of Sixlets candies to each of the leaves. (Psst! When the grandkids visit, our motto is “Life is short, eat dessert first!” so this was perfect!)
SweetWorks has so many wonderful ways to make the Fall season special. If you are having a special Fall event, you can get Celebration candy (Sixlets!) in separate or mixed bulk colors. I love the Fall shimmer colors, they are so amazing!
You can also find lots of wonderful things for Halloween. There are foil wrapped chocolates that look like jack-o-lanterns and ones with witches on them. My boys love the gumballs that look like bloody eyeballs!
