I’m Going To See Mickey Mouse!

I’m Going To See Mickey Mouse!

“Who’s The Leader Of The Club That’s Made For You And Me?”

I loved The Mickey Mouse Club show when I was a kid!

M-I-C, K-E-Y, M-O-U-S-E!! I am so very excited! I’ve known about this since the end of December, but I’m only just now officially sharing because I received our tickets. Those tickets cemented the realness of the whole thing! I mean, it’s not every day that I get an email addressed from DISNEY that says my family gets an expense paid trip to visit THE Mickey Mouse at Disney World!

Ok, I think I may need to give you a little back story on this. When I was very little (in the mid 60’s), I loved the Mickey Mouse Club (the original Mickey Mouse Club – with Annette Funicello – not the newer one)! I know the show originally aired 1955-1958 (I am not that old). However, the reruns aired in the early 60’s as well, which is when I watched it.

My mother still tells the story of the day that I broke the television watching The Mickey Mouse Club. I always danced and sang with the characters on the show, and one day I got so excited that I knocked our little television off of the shelf it sat on. In those days televisions had tubes that made the pictures on the screen. I busted one of the tubes, which made the picture roll up into a circle on the screen. She said I still insisted on watching the Mickey Mouse Club every day, even if it was in a little circle, until they could get the tube fixed.

During this same time, every Sunday night we would watch Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color. I loved seeing Tinkerbell fly across the screen, sprinkling fairy dust as she flew. I learned about and loved the Disney movies (my Mom took me to see Bambi on my first adventure to the theater), but before long, other things took the spot of television. Once I started having children of my own, Disney came roaring back into my life. Now that I have grandchildren, I own almost every Disney movie there is.

Disney has so many wonderful movies!

Just a few of our Disney VHS tapes!

From now until the actual trip (January 28th – 31st!) I will be sharing some Disney projects with you. I’m hoping it will help alleviate some of my excitement (is that even possible?!?) and build some excitement on your end! So watch for those activities. This trip to DisneyWorld is going to be an awesome experience, and I want to share as much of it as I possibly can with all of you. If you don’t already, follow me on Instagram, because I will be sharing tons of pictures there. If you don’t have Instagram, my pictures are automatically shared on Twitter and Facebook, so you will also be able to see them there.

Have you ever been on a Disney trip? What Disney did you visit and what was your favorite part?
