A New Job and Crochet Challenge – Farm Update

Life In The Fast Lane

Hey ya’ll! There has been so much going on lately, and I realize, I’ve been a little absent. I’m not going to promise to do a better job of keeping up, because my life just got a little more hectic, but I will give you a farm update. If you follow my social media (FB, Twitter, Instagram), then I’m sure you’ve seen that I recently took on a part time job.

Welcome to Subway!

This is the kind of thing that happens when you’ve spent your life raising your kids, and have been out of the workforce for 12 years. Suddenly I find myself back at minimum wage. I love working for Subway though. The job isn’t hard at all, and it’s helping us keep up the payments on my truck. The Jeep floorboards were starting to rust out, and actually had soft spots. Hubby was afraid it would fall apart on me, so we went ahead and bought me a vehicle.

This is my new Chevy Truck!

Now, it’s not like we couldn’t keep up with bills, but we like a few little extras in life,. To be able to afford all that, and two truck notes, and full coverage insurance on two vehicles, this part time job helps.

My etsy shop is closed at the moment, but it’s not like I’ve been selling anything anyway. I have been crocheting, though.  I’m working on an afghan for one of my boys, a clown doll for my mom, and granny squares for a Granny Square A Day CAL (crochet-a-long).

I’m trying to crochet at least one granny square every day. However, I am seriously behind if I plan to have 365 by the end of the year. I figure that if I at least keep up one each day, I’ll still have enough to make a few afghans to give as Christmas gifts this year. It would be nice to have at least one for my mom and step-dad, and one for my step-mom and dad. Sometime this year, I also want to make a Super Hero afghan for one of my grandson’s who loves comics. I found the pattern (by Christine Williams of Colorful Christine) on Pinterest. It’s the perfect gift for this child. I’ll just have to threaten his Dad to not steal it from him.

OH! I almost forgot. My daughter took me to a seriously fabulous donut shop a couple of weeks ago. I took tons of pictures. I’ll write about it soon, so keep your eyes open for it. The donuts are HUGE – and A. Maze.Ing!
